Workflows

Learn how reusable Workflows turn repeatable multi-step processes into ordered steps Giga can run again.

A Workflow is a reusable multi-step process in Giga.

Use a Workflow when the same process should be saved, standardized, and run again instead of rebuilding the sequence in every Chat.

What a Workflow contains

The current Workflow model is intentionally simple.

A Workflow can contain:

  • a name
  • an optional description
  • a small number of ordered steps
  • plain-language instructions for each step
  • optional inputs to collect when the Workflow runs

Each step describes a meaningful stage of the process.

Keep steps outcome-oriented

A Workflow should describe the work at a useful level. Individual searches, page reads, API calls, or tool invocations usually do not need their own step.

A simple example

Imagine a Workflow for preparing outbound account research.

Research the account

Gather the relevant company facts and evidence.

Identify useful signals

Pull out the information that matters for the sales team.

Prepare the brief

Return the findings in the team’s expected format.

Each step gives Giga room to use the tools, Connections, and judgment available in the live environment.

Workflow vs Skill vs Agent vs Pulse

PrimitiveBest fit
WorkflowA reusable ordered multi-step process
SkillA reusable method for one kind of task
AgentA named reusable AI role
PulseRecurring scheduled work
ChatDirect ad hoc work

These primitives can work together.

For example, a Workflow may apply an Account Research Skill inside one step, use an approved Connection to retrieve live information, and be run with an Agent when the current product surface supports that relationship.

Workflows and Skills

A Skill stores how to perform a task.

A Workflow stores which stages happen, and in what order.

For example:

Workflow stepReusable method
Research the accountAccount Research Skill
Draft the messageSales Outreach Skill
Review the resultBrand Review Skill

The Workflow provides the process structure. Skills can provide reusable task methods within that process when available.

Workflows and Connections

Workflow steps can instruct Giga to use relevant Connections and tools.

For example, a Workflow might ask Giga to:

  • retrieve current CRM information
  • research a company
  • update a connected system
  • create a work product
  • ask for confirmation before a consequential action

The exact tools available at run time come from the live environment.

Conditions and actions

A step can include plain-language conditions, decision rules, or actions.

For example:

If the account has no active opportunity, stop and explain why.

The current Workflow schema does not expose separate structured condition or action nodes. Those rules belong inside the step instructions unless the live Workflow model changes.

Workflow inputs

A Workflow can ask for structured inputs when it runs.

The current Workflow tools support inputs such as:

  • text
  • URL
  • number
  • choice
  • boolean

This is useful when the process stays the same but the subject changes each time.

For example, an account-research Workflow could ask for the company name and company website before it begins.

What happens when a Workflow runs?

A Workflow runs through its ordered steps.

The current execution model can report each step as:

  • running
  • completed
  • blocked
  • failed

If a step becomes blocked or fails, the run should stop rather than silently continuing as though the step succeeded.

Workflows are reusable

Once created, a Workflow can be run again with new inputs.

You can also edit its name, description, steps, or runtime inputs as the process changes.

Because replacing Workflow steps sends the complete ordered step list, Giga should read the current Workflow before editing it.

When should you create a Workflow?

A Workflow is a good fit when:

  • the process has several meaningful stages
  • the order matters
  • the process should be reusable
  • you want consistent execution without scripting every tool call
  • the inputs may change while the overall process stays the same

For one task method, a Skill may be enough.

For one-off work, a Chat may be enough.

For scheduled recurring work, use a Pulse for the timing.
