Sharing Skills
Learn how Skill ownership and Group sharing determine who can use and manage a Skill in Giga.
A Skill can stay private to its owner or be shared into one or more Groups.
Sharing makes the same task method available to the right team without copying the Skill into separate versions.
Owner-only vs shared Skills
Owner-only Skill
Available to the Skill owner without sharing it into a Group.
Shared Skill
Available to members of the Groups the owner shares it into.
Users can see Skills they own plus Skills shared into Groups they belong to.
Ownership and access are different
The current Skill model separates owning a Skill from having access to it.

A teammate can use a shared Skill without becoming its owner.
Sharing does not transfer ownership
The owner keeps control of the Skill while Group members gain access to the reusable method.
Share a Skill into a Group
The current Giga tools let the owner share a Skill into one or more Groups they can access.
Choose the Skill
Confirm the Skill you want to make available to a team.
Choose the Group
Pick the Group that represents the real audience for that method.
Share the Skill
Make the Skill available in that Group.
Use it from the shared scope
Members of that Group can access the Skill according to the current live permissions.
A Skill can be shared into several Groups when the same method is useful to more than one team.
Use the narrowest useful audience
Share the Skill only where it is actually needed.
For example:
- a Candidate Screening Skill may belong in Recruiting
- an Account Research Skill may belong in Sales
- a Brand Review Skill may belong in Marketing
- a broadly useful Meeting Summary Skill could be shared more widely
Keeping the audience deliberate makes it easier to understand which methods are available in each part of the workspace.
Shared Skills and Agents
A shared Agent can use a Skill when the Skill is available in the relevant live scope.
Sharing an Agent does not automatically share every Skill in the workspace with it.
If a team Agent depends on a Skill, make sure the Skill is available to the appropriate Group.
Shared Skills and Workflows
A Workflow can rely on a reusable Skill method when that Skill is available during execution.
The Workflow and Skill keep separate jobs:
- the Workflow stores the ordered process
- the Skill stores the reusable task method
This lets one Skill support more than one process without duplicating its instructions.
Updating a shared Skill
Only the Skill owner can update it in the current model.
Because the same shared Skill can be used across a Group, changes to its instructions or supporting files affect future use of that Skill.
Giga should read the current Skill before editing it because updating the file set replaces the full set of Skill files.
Shared methods should be edited deliberately
One update can change the method reused by everyone who has access to that Skill.
Stop sharing a Skill
The owner can remove a Skill from a Group.
That stops the Skill from being shared into that Group while leaving the Skill itself available to its owner and any other Groups it is still shared with.
Removing the Skill from a Group changes team access, so confirm the intended Group before doing it.
Deleting a Skill
Deleting a Skill is broader than unsharing it.
In the current model, deleting a Skill removes it and unshares it from every Group.
Giga should confirm before deleting a Skill.
If you only want one team to stop using it, remove it from that Group instead.
A simple example
Imagine the Sales team has an Account Research Skill.
Skill owner
Maintains the research method and supporting files.
Sales Group
Receives access to the shared Skill.
Sales Agent
Can use the research method when the Skill is available in its current scope.
Future updates
Changes to the shared Skill update the reusable method for future use.
