Product & Engineering

Practical ways product and engineering teams can use Giga for technical context, research, implementation work, and reusable operating methods.

Product and engineering work builds up context fast: requirements, technical decisions, research, implementation details, files, and unresolved questions.

Giga can keep that context connected across longer-running work while giving teams reusable ways to research, review, and execute supported tasks.

Keep ongoing work in Tracks

Use a Track when a product or engineering effort will continue across multiple Chats.

Examples include:

  • a product initiative
  • a technical implementation
  • a system migration
  • an architecture exploration
  • a bug or regression investigation
  • an integration project
  • a long-running research effort

The Track keeps the durable background, memory, Current Track State, authored files, and linked Chats around the work.

Preserve technical decisions

Technical work often depends on understanding why an earlier decision was made.

Current Track State is useful for keeping:

  • where the work stands now
  • how it got there
  • options that were ruled out
  • why those options were rejected
  • questions that remain open

That helps future work avoid repeating decisions that have already been made.

A Context Note is better for stable architecture background, constraints, terminology, or standing instructions.

Create and review work product

Files in Giga are authored work product.

For product and engineering work, confirmed file capabilities include:

  • Markdown
  • text and binary Track files
  • code
  • webpages
  • visual artifacts where the current Giga Web surface supports them
  • SQLite for local structured growing records
  • hosted Giga databases when requested and available

Giga should use the current surface to determine exactly how a file can be created, displayed, edited, or returned.

Use Connections for live technical systems

Connections can give Giga access to approved APIs, databases, MCP servers, browser sessions, and other technical systems.

When a first-class tool, API, database, or MCP Connection can complete the task, Giga should prefer that route.

Browser-based work is a fallback when a stronger supported route is unavailable.

The exact systems and actions available depend on the current workspace and provider permissions.

Reuse engineering methods with Skills

A Skill can capture repeatable engineering or product methods.

Examples include:

  • code or implementation review criteria
  • incident-summary structure
  • architecture-review method
  • product-requirement review
  • technical research method
  • release or handoff checklist
  • document-review standards

The Skill stores the reusable method while the current Track supplies the project-specific context.

Standardize recurring processes with Workflows

A Workflow fits work with several meaningful stages.

For example, a Technical Investigation Workflow might include:

Understand the problem

Review the Track context, current state, relevant files, and available evidence.

Inspect the relevant systems

Use approved Connections, files, databases, or other live capabilities available in the current environment.

Evaluate the options

Compare the evidence against the stated constraints and preserve rejected options when they matter.

Produce the handoff

Return the implementation plan, technical summary, or other supported work product.

The Workflow defines the repeatable process. A Skill can define the review or analysis method used inside a step.

Use Agents for reusable technical roles

An Agent can provide a stable role for repeated product or engineering work.

Examples include:

  • a technical research Agent
  • a code-review Agent
  • a product-requirements Agent
  • an integration Agent

The Agent can have durable instructions, context, approved Skills, and permitted Connections.

Its exact capabilities still come from the live Agent configuration and Group permissions.

Use structured data when the work needs it

Some engineering and product tasks produce growing structured records.

SQLite or a hosted Giga database can fit work that needs:

  • repeated records
  • filtering and sorting
  • field-by-field updates
  • aggregation
  • structured state that grows over time

Use files for authored plans, documentation, code, and reports.

Use Track memory for developments and decisions.

Schedule recurring technical checks with Pulses

A Pulse can run product or engineering work that genuinely benefits from a schedule.

Examples include:

  • a recurring project review
  • a scheduled research check
  • a periodic review of an implementation Track
  • recurring work through a technical Agent

The Pulse can target an Agent, a Track, or run without a target.

Keep consequential actions explicit

Connected technical systems can expose powerful actions.

When a task would make a consequential external change, Giga should follow the applicable confirmation rule before executing it.

The exact action boundary depends on the live tool and system involved.

Example: integration project

Imagine a team building a new integration.

A Workflow can standardize the investigation or implementation process, and a Pulse can add scheduled review when the work benefits from recurring checks.
