ConnectionsConnect a tool

Connect a tool

Learn how to connect an app, service, database, or other system to Giga securely.

A Connection lets Giga work with a tool or system your company already uses.

You can connect common apps, APIs, databases, MCP servers, and browser-based services. The exact setup depends on what the service supports.

Start from Chat or Connections

When the connection flow supports it, you can start directly from a Chat.

For example, you can ask:

“Connect my CRM.”

Giga can check whether that service already exists in the integration catalog and start the appropriate secure connection flow.

You can also manage and add Connections from the Connections area in Giga.

You do not have to leave the Chat

If Giga can start the connection flow from Chat, it should do that instead of sending you through unnecessary setup steps elsewhere.

Connect a tool

Tell Giga what you want to connect

Name the service, tool, database, or system you want Giga to access.

Giga checks the available connection methods

Giga looks for an existing integration and checks which supported methods are available.

Complete the secure connection flow

Sign in, approve OAuth access, or provide the required credential through the secure setup flow.

Return to your work

Once connected, Giga can use the Connection when your permissions and the service allow it.

How Giga chooses a connection method

Different services support different methods.

Giga prefers the strongest self-serve option available:

  1. MCP
  2. OAuth with a supported self-serve flow
  3. API key or PAT
  4. Browser login

The service itself determines which options are actually available.

MethodWhat to expect
MCPGiga connects to an MCP server that exposes supported tools
OAuthYou approve access through the provider’s sign-in and authorization flow
API key / PATYou enter the credential through Giga’s secure connection flow
Database connectionGiga securely stores and uses the database connection without exposing it in Chat
Browser loginA browser session is used when direct website interaction is needed

Keep secrets out of Chat

Never paste passwords, API keys, access tokens, OAuth secrets, or database connection strings into a normal Chat.

If a service requires a secret, Giga should send you through the secure connection flow.

Credentials stay protected

Giga uses stored credentials through its connection layer. The underlying secret does not need to be exposed in the Chat.

If the tool is already supported

Giga should use the existing integration rather than create a duplicate.

This keeps setup cleaner and lets Giga use the connection method already defined for that service.

If the service has several connection methods, Giga should follow the live integration configuration rather than guess which one to use.

If the tool is not already supported

Giga can investigate how the service connects and, where supported, create a workspace-specific integration.

The preferred path remains:

MCP → OAuth → API key/PAT → browser login

If the service requires a more specialized setup, Giga can route you to the relevant Custom Connection path.

What happens after connecting?

Once the Connection is available, Giga can use it from places such as a Chat or Agent, depending on the current permissions and configuration.

A Connection can allow Giga to:

  • retrieve live information
  • search or query the connected system
  • use provider-specific tools
  • take supported actions
  • work with connected data as part of a larger task or Workflow

The exact actions depend on both Giga permissions and the permissions granted by the external service.

Connections are permission-aware

A service being connected somewhere in the workspace does not automatically mean every user or Agent can use it.

Giga checks the current workspace state to determine:

  • whether you can access the Connection
  • whether it has been shared into a Group you belong to
  • whether you own the underlying credential
  • which provider actions are allowed
  • which tools are exposed in the current session
